Matariki in the City

Matariki in the City is back and bigger than ever. We’re celebrating the whetuu, Ururangi, who represents the winds of the sky. There are activities for all the whaanau, live entertainment, mahi toi (Maaori arts and crafts), Maaori taakaro (games), face painting, a hauora (health) hub, outdoor games and storytelling. Come to Hamilton Central library in Garden Place to celebrate Matariki and enjoy maatauranga Maaori for all the whaanau.
- Entertainment – An epic lineup of performers this year will include musicians, master storytellers, kapa haka and street dance.
- Hauora Hub – While the children are entertained, enjoy a relaxing mirimiri, get a health check and all your immunisation needs.
- Kai – Food trucks/stalls selling a range of kai, including an inground haangi, prizes and so much more.
- Storytelling and Outdoor activities – Live storytelling and games outside in Garden Place
