Matariki ki Pōkeno, He Ra Kohi Kūmara

Our event  focuses on Matariki Health and Wellbeing, a service provider will be at our event to offer free health checks to the community.  Pohutukawa, remembering those who have past, we have night sky wall where people write the name of their loved ones on a star and place it on the night sky wall, this wall has an image of Taramainuiku, his Kupenga and Te Waka o Rangi on it.  Tupuanuku and Tupuarangi, food we have food stalls so that the community can eat, sit and talk with others as they enjoy the day.  Waiti and Waita and Waipuna a rangi, all water, cup of tea, coffee etc are free at this event.  Hiwa i te rangi, the Pōkeno Realm concept is displayed so that the community can see what the future holds for Pōkeno community.  Ururangi, representation of this area is in the Matariki corner by way of Manu Aute.  The Matariki Art Corner is the main area for our event.  The following will be available for free, manu aute kits, poi making kits, lantern making kits, tukutuku making kits, Matariki colouring kits, and poster that the community can read that explain each of the stars in the Matariki cluster.  On the day for the tamariki there will be pop corn, candy floss, ice cream, balloons, face painting, raffles and quick fire raffles.
